Youth Peace Festival!!!

Heyhozzz everyone :) how's the day going on???It was so hot and humid just now...but as i am starting on this post, the rain started to fall...at least the poor plants manage to get water :)

I went to SSA's Youth Peace Concert just now and boy what a blast it was.The main thing about the show was to kick off the Racial Harmony Month and it talked about cohesiveness amongst every single race.It used the different colors of the rainbow to explain how no single color(race) makes the rainbow and its thru unity that strength is being found.Hahaha wah liew i sound so strange..i ain't that patriotic but I just love the part about peace and harmony :)

Okaizz haha i will give a brief review for each segment that i saw so pardon me for the remainder of this part of the post.

First up was and overture from the Soka Symphonic Band i think...playing the Soka Wind Ensemble..sounding very much like a Japanese folk song, which i think it really should be?Or at least its the Soka song :) I rate it quite well and quite melodic rythmn...reminds me of Spirited Away actually.

after this was the Prologue where a lot of little kids were dressed up in cute costumes and performing out a short skit, explaining how the rainbow was created in the beginning.

and then WOW and i mean WOW...it was Dance Of Dawn where there were not one,not two,not three but a whole bunch of ballerinas dancing and i can tell you haha they came in all shapes and sizes. There was even one bigger sized ballerina(bad of me i know,i will get my retribution) and mannnnnnn she even managed to do the ballet jump(you know, the one where one leg kicks in front and one kicks behind)...haha i am sure you know right Prissy???All in all the ballerinas really danced very well and their turns were impeccable *claps claps claps*

After the ballet would be Boat Song...where Soka Bintan(yeshhh even Bintan has Soka members) members performed a traditional dance segment accompanied by the tune of "A Sing Sing So" which in the end i found out.....is actually also Boat Song...yes the exact same song sung by Luo Da You..what a nice song :)

Ahhh then came Family Fiesta where a lot of people, young and old, male and female, all came out to the music of S.H.E's Beautiful New World and wearing white gloves, then started dancing.:) quite qin qie when you see some old uncles and old aunties dancing to such a popsy song.

Following up was Funky Jazz where the tone was still fast...i think it was BoA's music!!!!haha and a lot of ladies came out and did some funky dance moves...very good dance moves i might add...and it was the first time i saw an auntie around her 40s wearing funky clothes and dancing to the beat too...just think Coyote Ugly and you get what i see haha.

Moppets United saw little kids again(yessss) dressed up as little chicks to the tune of the chicken dance(i think it was..or was it?)haha and kids being kids they were cutesy..quite amazing also that they managed to choreograph their movements very very well..kudos to them also.

Little Voices was next up and this was Gemmie's number!!!!Well haha half her number at least cos it was her playing the piano in the background..hehe at least it was a recording of her playing the piano lol...great job Gemmie!!!rainbow connection was the song and it was a sweet song :) what more can i say?

Hip! was coming up and hahaha a lot of secondary school students were doing hip hop and breakdances, you know head stands and hand stands...plus even YoYo stunts :) Gotta give it to them for their energy and vibrance.

Hahaha my most fave segment came up next...Retro Jamboree was the name and it was sure my game hahaha.Cos there were nice gelek moves and nice retro music...wahh haha and lots of pretty girls dancing with handsome guys lol lol makes me remember my NPCC Farewell Night~~~

The amazing Flying Fellas were up next and they were doing somersaults and flips in the air...WOW...i can never do that kind of thing..my bones would sure break hahaha.

Movers and Shakers, the follow up segment seemed so familiar. It was Japanese tap dancing....but i saw it before in the movie Zatoichi...hehe mebbe that's where the inspiration came from...quite full of spirit also hehe.

Ahhhh the grand finale came up and it was named Forces of Unity...where dunno how many people formed human pyramids..wah i was worried for quite a few of them cos there wasn't any mat on the floor for them to fall down on lorr.

At the end, alll the people were singing the Soka song and clapping hands..haha one thing though..the lady emcee had too screechy a voice...her sudden shouts and wails made my eardrum almost burst.Great spirit from the Soka people and congrats to them :)

I really do hope racial harmony stays....i mean its not as if we all have to go all out and say hi to every single race and always do the politically right stuff, but just don't go and stir up shit with anyone and i feel that should be alright already. All the bad racist shit being stirred up is always by some kind of extremist group.

Guess i shall end here for now :) will write again..everyone do enjoy ur weekend ahh

Cheerz
